4 fantastic ways you should be using yoghurt in the kitchen

There’s more (so much more!) to yoghurt than just adding it to your morning muesli bowl, you know? We love this versatile ingredient and found four delicious ways you could (and should) be using it elsewhere in your cooking.

Add some tang to your soup

Heat a package of Woolworths Spinach, Kale & Broccoli Soup according to the package instructions, then swirl in 4–5 tablespoons of double cream plain yoghurt. Sprinkle with steamed fresh peas or petit pois, add croutons (or bits of pan-fried ciabatta) and dig in!

Make a quick & creamy dressing

For a fantastically herby yoghurt dressing, blend 5 g each of fresh parsley and coriander, 10 g fresh basil, 1 garlic clove, salt and pepper to taste, a squeeze of lemon juice and ¼ cup of double cream plain yoghurt until smooth. (Add 2T water to loosen if needed.) This is especially good drizzled over roasted root veg like butternut or sweet potato. (And can also be used as a marinade for chicken or lamb, just add more yoghurt!)

Add some cream to your tagine

For a quick and easy tagine, roast 500 g cubed butternut until soft. Add to a pan with 1 can of chickpeas, simmered in 1–2 cups chicken stock and 1 jar of Woolworths Moroccan Tagine Paste. Top with roasted red onion, dollops of Woolworths Double Cream Plain Yoghurt and fresh parsley. Serve with warm rotis.

Make some lollies!

This is the easiest treat ever: blend 1 cup of plain yoghurt with 1 cup of mixed berries, 2 T honey and ¼ to ½ cups of milk. Pour in a popsicle mould, freeze to set and enjoy!
